Let them Do their Job?

Nature has always selected and reserved right person for the right job, why don’t we apply this to insects? Let’s help flowers finding their friends.
Oxford is a beautiful town of Mississippi, USA which reminds me of Islamabad, Pakistan, similar in topography, climate and vegetation, especially orange leaves of maple tree in fall like a heaven on earth. Spring full of colorful life of plants, smiling and welcoming the spring with colorful flowers and these flowers awaiting for our attention and their friends (Insect, Honey bees, Pollinators) to meet and play with. It appears that they are throwing different colors of pollens on one another on the waves of cool refreshing air, celebrating the spring in its true sense. In the towns, like Islamabad and Oxford, where natural vegetation has been well taken care of and conserved, these pollens if present in high amount in air causes some disturbance for human beings called pollen allergy. But if I say it the other way round that they are sending message to humans that we are missing something or someone and you are responsible for this.
I never had problem from pollens but for the first time I experienced pollen allergy here in Oxford, MS. Pollens if you inhale it, it can cause allergy symptoms such as, Sneezing, Watery eyes, Nasal congestion, Runny nose, Itchy throat, Cough, and precautionary measures are suggested as
  • Avoid being outdoors in the early morning, when pollen is most widespread.
  • Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from pollen.
  • Have someone else mow your grass. Don't rake leaves during pollen season. If you must do yard work, wear a mask.
  • Going on vacation? Look for a place where pollen is low, such as the beach, or take your medications with you.
  • Change your clothing when you come indoors. Shower and wash your hair first.
Honey bees the pollen collectors, visit flowers to collect pollens and also responsible for cross pollination. According to unauthenticated data an average size bee colony collects an average of 100 pounds of pollens in a season. Imagine if there are 100 colonies then? Which means reduction in pollen population and good honey production which can meet the demand of local community and encourage them to use natural products on affordable rates? Encouragement of Bee keepers in such areas can result into good production of honey and can help to get rid of pollen problem.
We all know that pesticides sprays on crops have resulted in deaths of honey bees and pollinators which I think is major reason in high pollen population in air in spring. Bee keeping in such areas will help in protection of the honey bees from pesticides adverse effects and to protect ourselves from pollen allergy. These towns should be declared honey bees towns and then let the nature do their job. In summer season, vegetable farming in the surrounding areas of oxford should be encouraged so that fresh produce is available on daily basis to local community, reducing cost of fuel and encouraging people to cook and eat fresh food and to fight with obesity. These summer vegetables and other crops will serve as pollen source for honey bees. What do you think? Lets give nature a chance to do its job because nature has always selected and reserved right person for the right job, why don’t we apply this to insects? Let’s help flowers finding their friends.

Curiosity of nature leads you to discovery and satisfaction (Jurehman)
